The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS) is a leading national arts charity. It was founded in 1968, to promote the enjoyment of art in all its forms. This includes lectures on subjects ranging from the “Origins of Panto” to “The Lute - the Queen of Instruments”, and can cover subjects as diverse as gardens and street furniture.  There could be lectures on painters and musicians who we are all very familiar with, but not having an in-depth knowledge of their background influences and style – our lectures will help remedy this.  The subjects are varied and interesting with lecturers chosen for their light and informative delivery.

The Arts Society, Havering (TASH) is your local branch of The Arts Society.  We are, of course, an inclusive society – all are welcome.

We present our lectures on the second Tuesday of the month at the New Windmill Hall from 10.00am in hybrid format, ie both physically and using technologies such as Zoom so that, for example, members who would not otherwise be able to attend can enjoy the lectures without having to travel to Upminster town centre.

The society also organizes trips to various places of interest around the British Isles and abroad. There have been trips to Glasgow and Ironbridge, Berlin, Dresden, America and Russia, and of course walks around London and other towns to visit famous buildings and other sites. These are led by our Arts Society and other professional lecturers and tour guides.

Coffee or tea and biscuits are available at the start of each meeting. Our external visits often include a get-together for lunch, all helping you to meet and chat with other members and to make new friends.
